BRIGHTON BABY EXPO - FIRST FULLY INCLUSIVE PARENTING EVENT

JUNE 8 2008 – THE BRIGHTON CENTRE, 1030-1730- FREE ADMISSION

Infertility is an increasingly common problem within affluent societies with up to 15% of couples experiencing difficulty in conceiving either their first child or a subsequent child and up to 6% of children conceived through assisted reproductive techniques. Although there are many medical causes for infertility, around a third of couples have no readily definable cause.

Brighton Baby Expo will be the first baby show to truly address the needs of parents and parents-to-be keen to access information on assisted reproduction support and pre-pregnancy planning.

Further to their success in London and Cardiff, the London Women's Clinic will be bringing their acclaimed 'Inseminar' concept to Brighton Baby Expo. Free of charge, the ‘Inseminar’ will comprise of a series of presentations by the LWC team to describe the organisation of the donor sperm bank in London and how it serves the needs of a growing number of married, single and lesbian women who seek donor insemination. Natalie Gamble, a renowned specialist in legal issues surrounding assisted conception, will speak on legal parenthood, donor rights and advice for same sex couples. Venessa Smith, the sperm bank coordinator will answer questions about the practicalities of choosing a suitable donor. The London Women’s Clinic will also have a major presence within the exhibition.

The Agora Gynaecology & Fertility Centre will also be represented at the event. This new Sussex-based centre of excellence offers a full spectrum of fertility treatments and female health care and will be providing information and advice on a range of fertility options including ovulation induction, IVF, ICSI, embryo and sperm storage and egg and sperm donation as well as Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy care.

Alongside addressing ‘traditional’ fertility support techniques however, Brighton Baby Expo will also be welcoming those exhibitors who embrace more holistic, complementary methods. Sussex Natural Fertility offer tailored programmes and bespoke treatments for couples and individuals and will be advising on a range of therapies to include nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathy, reflexology and hypnotherapy. ‘Hypno-fertility’ has been shown to double the success of IVF treatment and increase conception rates by between 30%-55%.
